Unreserved 2nd class can be crowded. We strongly recommend reserving a seat, especially for weekend travel.
Third class is cheap but unreserved. Carriages are often very crowded with wooden benches. Passengers may have to stand for the entire 2.5‑3 hour journey. We strongly advise tourists to avoid 3rd class. The small saving is not worth the discomfort.
